Blackwater Museum is an adaptation of the classic roleplaying game, Call of Cthulhu, crafted to create a sense of suspicion and unease among the participants. At the beginning of the game the Keeper hands out three playing cards, one of which the Keeper has determined means that the player is secretly dead. The objective is to escape the haunted museum and return to the real world: if the living players kill the dead player, they successfully escape; however, if one of the living players is killed instead, only the dead player escapes, leaving the rest to be trapped in the otherworld. Those trapped become inhabitants of the illusion and turn their character sheet over to the Keeper, who keeps the character as an NPC in future games.
